    plus the cap space

i think the only thing i would add is that Colorado's first was not late, so that probably evens it out.

Personally I would have liked Matt Read. That dude's speed and knack for scoring is legit.

No drop off at "D", but a huge, almost incalculable upgrade at forward. You have to look at the whole transaction.

Bye bye Bernier. It had to be done. =\

Anyway, I honestly don't know what to make of the trade since I don't care about the Maple Leafs.

It's easy to look at numbers and assume, but you gotta factor in the East Coast/West Coast hockey difference. One could say, "Yeah! Frattin scores and Scrivens is average." But you could also say, "Maybe Frattin doesn't score as much on the West Coast but Scrivens could potentially have better numbers behind a Kings defense." As with all the trades, we have to give it time.

Best of luck to Bernier. Hell, maybe he will have terrible numbers over there too since he has to play behind the Maple Leafs defense. Either way, I hope Toronto gives him a legitimate shot at the #1 spot. Lots of pressure there for sure, but I think he can handle it.

While it seems like most of you are allergic to the "like" button, I just want to personally say thanks for looking anyway.

Cheaply replace penner with a solid winger, solve the backup situation with a pretty good goalie, grab a future 2nd round pick.

but most importantly, if that $500K is enough to resign Scuderi and everyone else, what more could Lombardi have accomplished?
Yup, didn't have a whole lot of leverage and got a 3rd line forward and backup that should both be serviceable - still have some room under the cap to finish off the lineup.
I agree. It's called leverage. Each day DL sees Offer Sheet and leverage is taken.

?? He's had his chance to challenge Quick for the #1, and he just hasn't had the game.

Then Quick went and ruined their little friendly competition by winning the Cup.

Of course, but I was just referring to Voynov vs. JMFJ...as the post I quoted was alluding to.

I still find it amazing the Kings (that's right the KINGS) have these assets on their overall roster. I remember when the roster looked more like a Beer League...and that wasn't all that long ago.

Here's a good video that casts a great light about Frattin's character, loyalty, and personal grit. He made a mistake but instead of taking the easy way out, he stuck it out and clawed his way beck.

This article talks about what his mistakes were and how he fought his way back.

wow, MUCH more than I thought....and money to boot?? GREAT job DL!

Good luck to JB in TOR, I know he'll light people on fire up there (literally, if they decide to start Reimer still )
