Good grief. Then there's no point for me continue to argue with you if you can't see how all those games Mason has played has basically confirmed that he's a mediocre goalie when you review his career numbers while there is still hope for Bernier who's come from a developmental program led by Lombardi that has churned out guys like Jonathan Quick, Miikka Kiprusoff (in San Jose), and other serviceable goaltenders albeit mostly in San Jose. By the way, it should not be lost on you that Philadelphia was also in hot pursuit of Bernier despite having the almighty Steve Mason already on the roster.

Seems pretty simple to me. Amazing others don't see the obvious even when it's staring them directly in the face.

So hot they could not beat the deal we got from Toronto. Do you think they offered the 11th overall pick but DL passed on that as well?

To be fair, I do recall now Dean saying that he was disappointed that he had to give up Bernier for less than what he thought the return should have been. Supposedly the asking price was initially a first-round pick and young roster player. Even still, I can't help but share in the disappointment that we didn't get more towards what I feel would have been a fair return and, I'm sorry, I still think Dean could have gotten more had he waited until the draft to deal.

Well, I can't tell you how to feel but when Lou Lamoriello offers his #9 overall for CS and he clearly doesn't do the same for JB then that should tell you all you need to know. When LL "speaks" you'd better listen.

Actually DL said you never get fair value for goalies. And that is true. And all we have been saying. There was NO way the Kings were going to get into the top 20 with Bernier as the center of the trade. It is just not feasible. Adding Martinez is not even close.

Value is what it is. The value for Bernier is significantly less for a guy like Schneider. Bernier is a projected starting goalie in the league. Maybe a franchise guy someday.
Schneider is a starter and has the look of a franchise right now. He has proven that.
Hard to argue with Lou. I will say this...if almost any other team offered a top 15 for Schneider, I would question it more, but because it is Lou, I would say that it is good value for both teams.

NOW....If the rumor is true that Vancouver passed on trading him to Edmonton for a 1st, 2nd, and a prospect from Edmonton, then Vancouver got fleeced and just dumb. (The idea was they did not want to trade him to the conference...but come on!)

Vancouver made the dumb decision. Jersey wins in this deal. Clearly a salary dump by Canucks. Looking at Bernier deal I think we did well to three players in return

I know if I were a fan of one of the teams involved in the Bernier trade discussion, I would've been PO'd had they given up a 1st rounder for him. Would you trade a 1st rounder for Holtby? A guy that is in a similar position, he shares the job with Neuvirth down in Washington, both are young and have shown promise, but neither has solidified as the No 1, and neither one has had a decent playoff run.

Like I said before, Bernier has a lot of talent, he has to develop though, and he has to show he can be the guy. What if he doesn't beat Reimer?
