Bottom line is that punk goons like Scott shouldn't go after munchkin high scorers. I'm amazed how some pretty smart hockey people are minimizing that.

So what you're saying is that the NHL thought what Kessel did was worse than what Scott did.
And that's your prerogative. But if you're going to say the NHL's justice is irrelevant, well then let's just throw out the rulebook.

From what I heard, Scott was out on the ice and stayed on the ice. Then Kessel was put on the ice next to him. Fining a coach for keeping a player out is stoopid.
Fair enough. I'm ok with disagreeing.
And that's where we disagree. I don't think just because someone TRIED TO fight another guy smaller, means that the smaller guy should get as many free shots as they want on the guy who TRIED TO start it. Kessel was not defending himself, because there was nothing to defend himself from. Scott was tied up. And I don't think anyone, even Captain Two-Hand, thinks that he prevented Scott from going after him any time in the future. There was no point other than to hurt or injure. That should be frowned upon.
Theo Fleury (and others) have said many times that this is the kind of stuff they had do to protect themselves from punk goons. If goons want munchkins to play fair then the goons need to play fair.
Although hearing Scott talking about bruises all over his legs was kinda funny...
That depends on whether he gets punked by punk goons. If Scott tries that again, we'll see.
Also, there's a couple videos of Kessel doing that same thing to TWO Flyers like a week before, and they were just fighting for position. Yes, they were meaningless games he was suspended, but at least he now has a "history" which hopefully will dissuade him from acting like an assclown yet again.
