Time will tell... I like that he's not in the West. And that we got a back up in return.

Not as sexy as I would have hoped, BUT it seems like fair market. I really like the 2nd.

Frattin. Seems like a 3rd line player? I hope this is the case and he works out there. We have been missing a 3rd line RW in my opinion. Simmonds leaving left that hole there.

    Default More quality over quantity.

It's a decent return on paper but I am disappointed in the deal, personally. Matt Frattin is a guy Lombardi clearly likes a lot who will also be a fan-favorite and the second-round pick is something the organization typically does well with, but why the heck did he have to ask for a back-up goaltender? Yeah, I get that Ben Scrivens fills a roster spot inexpensively, but I would have preferred to shop in the free agent market for that given the abundance of mediocre goalies available rather than lower the quality of the trade package. Even if that route isn't going to be cheaper, I would have given Martin Jones a shot because Scrivens is not that much better an option. Plus, Scrivens will be a UFA after next season with Frattin an RFA.

I would have preferred including Alec Martinez in the deal and not asking for Scrivens for a better return quality-wise rather than settling for the deal that we ended up with. Frattin is also listed at RW so it remains to be seen if he can handle LW duties. I guess this is the best Lombardi could do given the amount of time for negotiations, but I still think he could have made a better deal. Toronto's defense could always use capable bodies and we happen to have a surplus from our bottom pairing. This deal does benefit us but I'm "meh" on it.

Bernier was a luxury that we couldn't afford any longer. We filled two holes and added a 2nd round pick, which for this group of scouts is probably better than adding a 1st.

This is a good move for both sides.

The only loser in this deal is James Reimer.

I am happy with the trade. I have seen many TOronto games on NHL Center Ice and Frattin is a decent player. As pointed out, he can sometimes appear "lazy" and he has to hit and skate well in order to be effective, and I believe that Sutter will make sure he does that. And I feel that if he plays to his potential he can score 12-15 goals and that will be a big help. Like someone else pointed out he had more than King and Penner combined.

I also believe that Scrivens will be a very serviceable backup. If he does not have to play 50 games a year and only plays 20-25 you guys will be pleasantly surprised. The problem with this season is he was put on the spot as "the guy" when Remier went down and he had to make 8 or 9 starts in a row, and he is not a guy that can do that. A start on a back to back night or to rest quick, yes....8 in a row...no

He has decent numbers and don't forget Toronto's defense is nowhere near as good as LA's...regardless of what people think...LA has a better defense, well depending on who we lose the rest of the way (IE Scuderi) etc...

    I'll take Charlie Coyle.
Assuming Coyle and Gardiner are off the table, per Lyle Richardson's opinion, I would have preferred getting Brayden Schenn back for the 3rd line center position along with whatever assets instead of the Frattin deal we settled for. If the Zucker deal from Minnesota was on the table and we passed on it, I'll be even more distraught.

Fair trade both ways. Yes, JB has potential, but still hasn't proven anything until he gets to play as a starter. I think he'll do great. Got a descent back up for minimal cap hit
