It's certainly better than what we would have received if he signed an offer sheet. Getting a goalie back to replace him without any other player going back in return is a plus.

Default Jonathan Bernier traded to Toronto for Frattin, Scrivens, 2nd in 2014 or 2015

I don't really understand this too much. I thought the main component of this trade would be Bernier going into a situation where he will undoubtedly have the chance to be the starting netminder. Toronto fans love Reimer, his career is heading in the right direction after last year, I don't see how Toronto didn't just trade themselves into a goalie controversy. I don't think Toronto needed Bernier as badly as Philadelphia or New York.

Me too. I switched over to capgeek to see the hits on Scrivens and Frattin and checked Toronto and there was Bernier already. Who has time to do that when you can post on forums like this first.

I'm not overly concerned as to why Toronto made the trade. I'm glad the trade is done w/ and we can move on. DL looking at other moves before or at the draft?

What facts are you using that Scrivens can't have the same 5-6-2 record and .909 sv% Bernier had during the Cup run?

    Like the last line!
I like the deal and generally like Frattin but he needs to mature and it remains to be seen if he fully recovers from his knee injury.

Apparently, threads like vBookie for SCF game 4 and the Jersey Framing threads are too important to get bumped off the 1st page.

So this is what you honestly thought Bernier was worth? Because it IS pretty close to what I thought he was worth.

    There is no way in hell Frattin + Scrivens + a '14 or '15 2nd rounder = a mid 1st rounder.

Frattin. Seems like a 3rd line player? I hope this is the case and he works out there. We have been missing a 3rd line RW in my opinion. Simmonds leaving left that hole there.
I think JB is the best player in the trade but that is typical of most trades...there's always ONE guy who is considered the best player. But given that DL talked with MANY teams this is certain the best (or near best) market value for JB.

As to those you'll inevitably whine about this: I'll trust DL in the choice he made here vs. his other offers given he is the only one who knows what other offers he got AND he's more qualified to make that choice that most...no...ALL of us here.

it looks like this Frattin kid can score. 10 goals in 13 AHL playoff games in 11-12. 14 goals in 23 regular season AHL games that year.

there is still a hole on LW so the question remains who plays there? Frattin is a right shot so that's not a perfect fit.

i guess Penner can still be an option now?

Reportedly via a tweet, the Maple Leafs view Bernier as a clear upgrade from Reimer despite fan opinions. Makes sense given that Leiweke is with them now.

Great, now I get to see Scrivens and his weird*** glove position all the time.

That depends on the draft I think. It could very well be if it's a less-than-good draft. If it's the 2003 draft equivalent...no...it's not even close.
