    Default Karlsson Injury

Wow! What a bummer. Talk about a long and painful recovering injury. Don't wish that on anyone. Matt Cooke has a long wrap sheet and in my mind it looked like a stomp. Accidental or not, it happened.

Had him not taken a puck to the face earlier in the game I would feel less cynical.

I'm biased... I dislike the guy.

Make millions of dollars a year, wear all kinds of pads, but don't wear Kevlar socks?

Definitely sucks. Whether it's Cooke that did it or whoever else, it looked completely accidental.

It's been said before and I'll say it again. I'm surprised this doesn't happen more often.

apparently the refs missed the puck hitting the netting just before the incident... it may have been avoidable.

Looks mostly accidental, sort of intentional. Two reasons why really. One, when his foot comes back down, it looks like an unnatural "path" to take to come back down. Two, Karlsson spins and clearly is screaming as he's going down. Cooke doesn't look back at all to see what happened.

I give the benefit of the doubt because I don't think he was trying to do that...but part of me just feels a little unsure because of what I mentioned.

While the kevlar socks work really well, I doubt they would have stopped an injury from a straight stomp to the achillies.

This incident reminds me of how much of a whiner Bryan Murray is.

at the draft party a couple of years ago, and under a considerable haze, i heard Birdman yell out the following (about 4 or 5 times, i think) - "don't marry yourselves to players!" he went on to reiterate that idea more than once on the boards, and i believe it to be absolutely sage.
