Grossman said. "Obviously his goal is to win the Stanley Cup. If he didn't think there was an opportunity to do that, then he would not have gone there."
Good Luck with that Cup Kovy.......
I know it's still the beginning of the season, and I don't want to gloat until we see the final standings in April...but this is just too funny.
I don't expect them to play this bad all season, the again, I had a things that I haven't expected have happened.![]()
I really like reading the thread over at HF. Devils fans seem to think LA is butthurt we didn't get him.
A lot of LGK'ers are. It's pretty obvious when people are posting things like, "So happy to see the Devils fail with Kovalchuk and his contract!"
I personally could care less what's going on in New Jersey and I don't understand why anyone would want to see an NHL team fail. There are already anough teams losing money and having crappy attendance, I'd rather the NHL not have another lockout...
We might be butthurt, but the Devils are the one's that got screwed.![]()
I didn't want him. Ever. I am not butt hurt either. I'm not happy to see them fail per se but it is kind of nice to see karma come back to bite them in the butt.
They gambled and possibly lost. They still have 14.9 years left on that contract. Lets see what happens. Seeing him get benched and the team only icing 15 players for a game - thats disturbing.
Maybe the league had a reason for questioning the original contract.
Its still kind of funny because Uncle Lou might have gambled and lost on this one. While the little things like what held up the original contract may not be in the CBA now, I thought this was one way to keep crap like this from happening. No team can just throw money at one player and build a franchise around him. GM's have to be smarter than this.
I'm under the impression that Kovy will never win a cup, especially in this day of the salary cap. I also don't think he even cares that he'll never win a cup.
His need to get the big money for long term has as good as killed any chance that NJ will get back to their former glory. I know, anything can happen but IMO it's game over for the Devil's for the next decade.
If he really wanted to win, he'd have done what Hossa did.

lol...that ship sailed back in summer. LA is now suddenly going to step in and save NJ? good luck with that wish to those morons. they must have a stash of some really good stuff to believe this will happen.
LA and DL made their pitch in the summer, which included the financial committment they were willing to put forth. any trade now for him will include the $$$ involved with the NJ contract. there is no way in hell DL will take on that albatross.
there is speculation that NJ management forced this one on Lou L. it is speculation, but i tend to believe this is the case. LL has historically been VERY tight fisted and that contract from the start didnt seem to fit LL's style. in any event NJ made a big mess that they are now tied to for over a decade.....thank god LA didnt make the same mistake
