He might be flashy, but he hits, fights, stands up to other teams, scores, and plays at an extremely fast and high level.

The thing with Brown.. It felt like he'd found his game in a big way back in 07/08. He was consistently hitting (and hitting HARD), letting others move the puck with him driving to the net looking for rebounds. Now it feels like he's playing with blinders on trying to do it all by himself.

I don't doubt his commitment but Brown needs to find and play to his strengths again. If he can't find his game by himself it's the coach's responsibility to make sure he does. He hasn't looked the same since Crawford left so I wouldn't ignore the possibility that Murray is simply coaching him the wrong way.

it's three different coaches trying to define three different roles for him.

gotta give it up to bland, he had him pegged real early on that Brown was too coachable and thus, a pleaser.

Andy Murray was probably the best coach for him. Terry Murray has done nothing but vamp on the anomaly that Marc Crawford created. Crow's feet is successful with players like Brown because he can yell the thinking off and turn the doofus level up.

Murray just like Lombardi like these hybrid-type guys.. the Madonna and the whore... like Justin Williams and Ryan Smyth. it's there with Dustin, but it's going to take a rough road because Brown wasn't inherently this type to begin with.

Same thing any GM would say to a blogger.

If he presented an argument that had legs beyond, "You don't know what you're talking about, son, because I have the ability to tell a man's true character and see the truth that you can't," then perhaps there might have been more people willing to stand on the same sideline in that discourse.
