As far as the KHL, it's a crap shoot. Who knows how that league will turn out with it's huge payroll and no attendance. Only Kovi knows his feelings on that subject.
Regarding the NHL I'm sure Kovi, like the rest of the league is impressed with the Lombardi/Murray GM/Coaching tandem. After having the Kings pay their dues learning how to play defensively this season is seeing the results with next season looking, almost certainly, better.
Kovi never had that in his 8 seasons in Atlanta. A Team that went through emotional distress with respect to tragedy in the ranks. A GM that tried to build an elite team through veterans rather than through the draft.
Kovi saw 5 coaches, including Waddell twice, since beginning there in 2001, try to put players together to create a team that could go far and win. Only once in those 8 years did the team reach the post season only to be eliminated in a 1st round sweep.
Kovi may see the Kings as a means to an end for him both professionally, personally and financially.
