Just like Kovalchuk to start scoring goals when the games don't matter...

Because it's funny when teams make MASSIVE avoidable mistakes (HUGE overpayment on an albatross of a long-term deal) followed by completely predictable consequences (the player plays the way he always has by being totally unable to deal with pressure).
Is the point to score goals or win games? Personally, I think it's more important to win games...but to each their own.

Same reason so many people now hate the Miami Heat.
The Devils have French kissed an *******. Now that the Devils have no shot at the playoffs, said ******* is scoring in bunches, ensuring that in addition to everything else, the Devils will not get a lottery pick. Sorry, but laughing harder over here.
I think you're being slightly ignorant.
I've been watching a lot of Devils games lately and what I see is a desperate team, finally pulling their **** together and playing lights out for a reason: to make up for early season blunders and at least TRY to do what it takes to make the playoffs. They are 10 points out with 23 games left, so, while still unlikely, it's not an impossible scenario.
But that is not the point. Even if they DO miss the playoffs, it is clearly of greater benefit for a team to gain confidence and rise up, rather than just quit on the season and tank for better picks.
