I have no problem looking inward. They have plenty of weaknesses and scoring is definitely one of them...with a few specific players failing pretty badly at it - so feel free to point to "a few Kings", I'll probably agree with you.

But that doesn't change that Kovalchuk is a massively overpaid moody pouter who folds when times get tough.

And if telling it like it is makes you think I'm me an ass, so be it. I've been called worse - and by posters other than jom.

I don't know why I argue...but what is that based on. He wasn't particularly overpaid in Atlanta and he seemed to put up 40 goals a year in his time there. Is he overpaid in N.J. well, no...the market determined his value. But that's the only point you make where you might be able to argue. During the debacle of the first half of the season, THE ENTIRE TEAM threw their hands up in the air over John MacLean's 'system'. Hell, even he did. I have nightmares of watching games drifting away, with the ENTIRE team looking back at Johnny Mac for answers and he just shrugged his shoulders. I can find quotes from 1/2 the team saying that Kovy was a leader in the locker room, especially with the younger players, when Jacques came aboard and things started turning around. So no...times were as tough as they could have been and he did not fold. Look, you clearly have a burr in your saddle re:Kovy...whatever, spurned mancrush or something else. The simple fact is that you came in to a rational discussion and basically posted a ridiculous non-truth. We all know that sort of behavior is reserved solely for Home Ice.

And, save your patronizing sarcastic reputation comments for someone who deserves them...your dear sainted mother perhaps? I am not here to entertain you.

It's based on watching him for 8 seasons in Atlanta and hours and hours and hours of talks with my STH buddies out there.

He wasn't particularly overpaid in Atlanta and he seemed to put up 40 goals a year in his time there. Is he overpaid in N.J. well, no...the market determined his value.
I suppose by that definition, there never has been, isn't now, and never will be an overpaid player in the NHL since the market determines the value of every single player. I don't agree with that, but that's fine. If you think the Devils are a better team paying him an average of $9.875M per year for the next 8 yrs (when he'll be 35) then more power to you.

But that's the only point you make where you might be able to argue.
Not really. I've made it time and again, you just disagree. Did you watch him in Atlanta? I did. So did my STH friends who were disgusted at how he'd play a half-ice game and take 2+ minute shifts while his coach and teammates would scream at him to get off the ice.

So that explains 13 goals in his first 45 games? Really? And the Lamoriello-endorsed benching? Wow, I had no idea ANY system could turn a 50+ goal scorer into a 20 goal scorer. So what explains his recent 2 goals in 7 games streak? I suppose that's the "MacLean residue"?

I can find quotes from 1/2 the team saying that Kovy was a leader in the locker room, especially with the younger players, when Jacques came aboard and things started turning around.
I don't really care what teammates say. Teammates said Jeremy Roenick, Keith Tkachuk, and Rob Blake were good leaders. None of them were. Not from the results they got, and not from any of the people I know who know them.

So no...times were as tough as they could have been and he did not fold.
Not really. When a team is 50 points or whatever out of the playoffs, they're not as tough as when a team is fighting for the playoffs. You go ask Dustin Brown whether he's playing in tougher games now or few years ago when they were out of the playoffs way before the end of the season.

Look, you clearly have a burr in your saddle re:Kovy...whatever, spurned mancrush or something else.
...and I'm the ass, eh? You can't see it for what it is: rational objective analysis about a player I don't really give a crap about...not him or the team he's on.

The simple fact is that you came in to a rational discussion and basically posted a ridiculous non-truth. We all know that sort of behavior is reserved solely for Home Ice.
Everyone's entitled to an opinion, nomatter how wrong it is.

...and I'm the ass, eh? They aren't the least bit patronizing or sarcastic. Your posts really are fun to read.

I am not here to entertain you.
    ...and yet you do...

Can someone tell me how to IGNORE someone. I seem to have picked up a stalker that I need to lose.

Sure. You just go to the mystery person's profile, click on "User Lists" and then "Add to Ignore List".

    See how helpful I am?

Too bad, though. I guess I gave you too much credit.
