    Thank you Cap'n!

I really needed the comic relief and....Boy! You delivered.

The irony is I actually agree that Kovy would be a great addition but there's no way Atlanta trades him for just Frolov + picks/prospects.

You guys are looney for not believing any of this. C'mon, the OP is a pro scout!!! He knows what he's talking about.

Depends on the cap hit and term of the extension that comes with Kovalchuk.

Simmonds, barring additional injury difficulties, is going to be a force in this league. He'll take longer to get there, and will be cheaper on the way up.

We'll see how much he wants on an extension this summer. That said, Power Forwards make the world go 'round in this league, and Simmonds is made of that mold.

Simmonds won't be there for long.

If it ain't broke don't fix it.

Kovy for Simmer straight up? No thanks.
Kovy will take up the roster spot of 3 or 4 players.

And I agree, I wouldn't make that trade, unless we're flipping him elsewhere for Lindros.
at the draft party a couple of years ago, and under a considerable haze, i heard Birdman yell out the following (about 4 or 5 times, i think) - "don't marry yourselves to players!" he went on to reiterate that idea more than once on the boards, and i believe it to be absolutely sage.

Does anybody remember, a while back, the poster that said he wouldn't trade Brown for Ovechkin? Now THAT was a ****ing gem.

You missed the point of me saying no completely.

Would I take Kovy for Simmer straight up with equal contracts? Absolutely. But that isn't how the world works. Kovy has a huge contract. One that will end up destroying our core in a few years.

You can have 1 Kovy, a type of player the team currently has no need for, or a Simmonds, a Justin Williams, and a Jarret Stoll. 3 types of players we need. And it would be for roughly the same price, around 7 mil.

as for the Brown for Ovy comparison, that is the same type of player, i would do it in a heartbeat.

But if you wanna say Kovy for Simmer, well then you are drastically changing your lineup. You are taking our a Defensive forward, a shutdown forward, and a penalty killer, on a team that struggles to keep goals down, and swapping him for a goal scorer....on a team that currently has the 2nd most goals for? Sounds like bad use of cap space to me. But that is just my opinion, apparently I am ape **** crazy for wanting to make sure the team has one of the better defensive cores.

Oh it's okay if we got Kovy for Simmer I am sure Teddy Purcell could just play the role of a PK man and a shutdown forward -_-

Just cause it's shiny doesn't mean it is good and necessary.

    Meanwhile....

The four that I have confirmed to have made their interest known are Chicago, Los Angeles, Vancouver, and Philadelphia...

What does Atlanta want? Well the price would be steep. They definitely want a top prospect with star potential who could possibly step into the "leading man" shoes...

Either way, I assure you, this doesn't go into the Olympics. This ends before February 1 in all likelihood.

Here you go. From my sources (a long drug induced nap due to the flu)
Schenn, Hickey and Moller to Toronto for Kessel
Kessel, Randy Jones, Bernier and our first to Atlanta for Kovy.

    Seems fair right?

Burke gets his brothers and Moller
Atlanta gets another great scorer, a top 6 dman and a possible longterm goaltending solution and a pretty damn good pick.

I gotta say "Julie Loves Hockey" gets a little bit hotter every time I see her. I actually left her unmuted for about 23 seconds this time.
