    that is a HUGE return.
I certainly have no inside info but Lombardi doesn't strike me as the type who makes this deal unless an extension is in place and if Atl knows this than they ask for the motherload. If by some strange scenario he does just do it as a rental than your offer is probably the right amount so it will be interesting.

I don't know why people are so married to Bernier though? I mean let's face it that so far anyway Quick looks like the real deal so Bernier is for once an incredible trade asset and could be the anchor in just this type of deal. Now if Quick were not here I could see the reasoning of not including Bernier in any deal but we can't keep both. At some point, I can see Bernier making a stink in the minors as he strikes me as the type that won't like playing in the minors much longer.

yeah, i'm not sure if they want to let him go for nothing...i guess it depends on if they think they can really make a run this year.

sadly i have missed the last 5-6 games other than reading recaps so i don't know how they have looked. but it is very possible that they keep frolov and if they lose him for nothing then at least they recoup his cap space. that's probably enough.

but if pittsburgh comes calling with a nice package (like if there really aren't any quality scorers available at the deadline) i think DL would listen.

If you are Waddell. Let's not forget he's a pretty lousy GM.

it'd be a gamble, but one i definitely think he can finally win given where the Kings are and the clear direction they're trending.

Bernier is where you want him to be and a problem you beg to have.

i don't trade bernier if i can help it. he's still very young for a goalie (i think 21 or 22). plus, ATL has pavelec, so i'm not sure they'd be after bernier.

If CBGB says it's not going to happen it means it actually might happen. Thing how wrong he has been in the past w/ the big player trade rumors.

That's news to me too. In addition, everyone in the hockey community has commented how much he has stepped up his 2-way play since getting the "C". Kovalchuk would be the right addition to get the Kings to the elite level.

The hope is that Bernier can one day be a top 3 goalie in the league, and they're certainly training/raising him that way. I could be wrong, but the amount of work being put into him is proof that they aren't going to trade him.

In Quick's case, although he's still young, I don't feel he is expected to be at that level.

Deja vu? Isn't this the exact deal Goallum, you and I were proposing in October 2008? It's still a good deal and one I hope DL can finally make happen.

If Atlanta trades Kovy that would signal a rebuild with youth. What other team has the youth assets and picks the KINGS have ? It would take a package of the KINGS top prospects and high picks !! The addition of Kovy by subtraction of any of the top six is not what DL is gonna do.....
