Yep, how's the relate to the point of comparing 37 yr old Hull signed as a UFA for $3.5M for a couple seasons...and Kovalchuk who will cost significant players AND cost ~$9M for 8 seasons?

It's not happening. Eklund just chimed in with this:
"Talking to sources I just get the sense the Hawks are in this like they were "in" on Heatley. I don't see the deal getting done. I have actually increased Montreal a bit, lowered Philly, and increased LA...who were I to go on my hunch is the favorite."
HockeyBuzz.com - Eklund - Trade Winds. The Big 4: Kovalchuk, Niedermayer, Selanne, Phaneuf
He has only played 4 career playoff games for Atlanta, I don't know how anyone can come to the conclusion that he disappears in the playoffs based on 1 series that happened 3 years ago.
Yeah, game 2 IN Atlanta and it gave the Rangers a 2-0 lead in the series. That was brutal.
defending Anze Kopitar at 22 and questioning Kovalchuk's 1st playoff performance at 23?
just sayin...
And if Kovalchuk turns into Phil Esposito, I'll eat my words.
Somehow I don't think ANYONE is EVER going to compare those two again.
Sure, and I'm just sayin' that Kovalchuk has another three years to look at since then and when it comes to hard times and tough games he checks out.
If Kopitar does that for the next three years I hope they trade him.
