Right, so we increase our cap by $4M and still need another winger.

Dumb enough to give up their leading scorer and a player they picked up last season for WILLIAMS, TEUBERT AND HOLLOWAY?

You seriously overestimated the stupidity of their GM.

If your only case is oh they took Brian Boyle from us! it was for a 3rd round pick dude. That makes lightyears more sense then the aforementioned deal.

    Williams
    Teubert
    Holloway

I don't think the Rangers do a deal close to this unless they have Kovalchuk signed. I think its going to take more than these three.

If the NHL can, and decides to levy a fine on the Devils of say $1-2M, this will drastically impact their ability to sign Kovy to a long term deal this year.

For the most part, I agree with you. There is just no guarantee. You cannot say "No, it's not a possibility".

Gaborik, NTC, I know it doesn't mean he can't be traded but really he was just out there for 1 year. The rangers missed the playoffs by 1pt in the far easier east. The kings made the playoffs for the first time in 7 years. It might look good on paper but I don't think he would look at this as moving to the "better" team so easily. He is playing in front of Henrik you know.

One of the other interesting things I heard mention amongst all the tweets from the notables, can't remember who, was that the capologist that works for NJ at the moment is the same guy who was instrumental in working for the league to set up portions dealing with salary/contracts in the current CBA. Now if that isn't a little bit of evidence of circumventing, I don't know what is. Not to mention Lou aside from his comments was a stalwart against contracts like these as far back as anyone can remember.

Sorry if the capologist part has been mentioned here.

Considering the sheer importance of this contract i see the NHL giving them a chance to rework the numbers before levying a fine. BUT i could be mistaken of course.

If it ends up being as simple as reworking the contract then he will be a Devil for life.
