Just a thought after reading the NHLPA's statement, If they do file a grievance on behalf of their member (Kovalchuk) this will drag the situation out. If there are any fines or penalties given, it seems that the burden would be placed more so on the "Devils" and possibly the agent (Grossman), so why would the NHLPA care to get into it as this time? The PA and Kovalchuk probably want to situation rectified ASAP so that Kovalchuk is free to sign a "new" contract.
