They should be penalized, they were found to be in violation of the CBA, there shouldn't be any special exemption for this team, cuz if it was our team we would be penalized.

The longer this takes the better for the Kings.
Kovy took forever to decide in the first place and the Kings offer wasn't even close to the Devils offer. Lombardi even said so. So now that the Devils offer will have to drop, does that push Kovy toward the Kings? It seems he struggled with the decision in the first place...
Thanks for the correction.

Leak that was sent to me was not correct, NHL wins case, Kovy now UFA

Cue, the Gaborik trade rumors again, as the Rangers will try and offer Kovi atleast 1 year at 10mil.

And on the 40th day the hockey Gods spoke.
Go KINGS!!!!
I have just promised myself not to waste time following this saga like I did last time. LOL..back to my scheduled life. Have a nice day.
I am not an expert, but it seems to me that he signs a one year deal with NJ and then revisits it next year. I would be stunned beyond stunned if he played for any other NHL team in 2010-2011.
Kovalchuk a free agent after arbitrator ruling - NHL Free Agency 2010
Lou's Statement:
"We have reviewed and respect Arbitrator Bloch's ruling in the Kovalchuk matter. We also note and appreciate his finding that nothing in his opinion should be read as suggesting that either the club or Ilya Kovalchuk operated in bad faith or on the basis of any assumption other than that the Standard Player Contract was fully compliant with the CBA. That has been our consistent position throughout. While we do not currently have a contract with Ilya Kovalchuk, discussions have resumed and we are hopeful that a contract will be reached that meets with the principles in Arbitrator Bloch's award and the NHL's approval."
This should all but put to rest any talk of fines or loss of draft picks. It's amazing that so many lgk'rs are back on the we want Kovy bandwagon. I honestly hope you guys get him, I really do. The only place he can go at this point to be able to play free of all the fallout associated with this madness is the KHL. Anywhere else he goes, unless he is a 3 or 4 time Stanley Cup winner, he will be considered a disappointment.
