That's the main thing I want to know. There hasn't been a word from Kovy since the NHL rejected the deal. And all that stuff about Uncle Lou "knowing" that the deal would be rejected. The question is: Was Kovy told in advance of the presser that the Devils already knew it would be rejected? And if so, did Grossman tell Kovy "Don't worry -- the rejection won't hold up. Go on out there and smile and stuff." Or worse, was he NOT told they already knew? Either way, shouldn't Kovy be seriousy pissed off right now?

I can't believe after all this some of you want the Kings to sign this greedy a-hole.

One would think, especially if he preferred LA if the contracts were the same. If Lou has effectively killed the Kings' interest and been told by the league they can't do any "creative" contracts, he could get Kovy for a cheaper package than the Kings offered in July.

Gotta set emotion aside, and ask yourself if he has the skills to improve the team.

Arbitrator Rules In Favor Of NHL In Kovalchuk Case - Craig Custance - The Grinder - Sporting News arbitrator rule that the last 6 years of the contract & the change of the MNC to NTC all circumvented the salary cap. Based on that for the Devils to sign Kovy to the CBA approved frame work of the deal, it would be 11 years, $8.090909 cap hit.

Also according to the CBA if a contract is ruled to have circumvented the CBA a fine MUST be enforced on the club at a minimum of $1m & up to $5m to be enforced against the teams cap for the next season. Also Kovy's agent Grossman can be stripped of his credentials as an NHL approved agent. If the NHL wants to show that they mean business they should fine the Devils more then the minimum & remove Grossman's certification as an NHL agent.

Now that being said I still want Kovy on the Kings...with a good cap hit.

Hence the speculation by Hammond of him signing a 1-year contract somewhere and then the circus will be back in town (again) next summer

for those who think he's greedy, if you had the opportunity to negotiate from his talent level in your job, wouldn't you get the best salary/rate you could?

    This.

Any NHL player who doesn't ask his agent to get him the best deal possible is a moran.

Would you tell your father, sister or significant other "Well, you live in LA, give your boss the home town discount and sign for less then you could make in San Diego."

    Not.
