Yes. Of course I do. I thought it would be obvious. The fact that the NHL has already taken a few days looking at this should give anyone with any sense pause. Why this would even be considered is beyond me if they were rejecting the first one. For all intents and purposes, it's the same contract.

While I agree to an extent with you, I do wonder what the reasoning was for the arbitrator to come down on the league's side.

I would be interested in reading the ruling, just to see what points he deemed to be "circumvention".

Well, if I remember correctly, he never said that the Devils were KNOWINGLY circumventing the cap, but because of the last several years and the heavy front loading done, he felt that it was still doing that.

I know there were several articles that posted excerpts, but I don't know of any place with the full ruling.

I hope its rejected and the NHLPA grieves it again. I hope the arbitrator agrees with the league again and Kovy signs for $45 million over 5 years

You guys realize that according to the reports Lou and company kept going back to Herr Bettman and saying...'is it ok now????' They finally got a wink and a nod and submitted the deal. The NHL can save face by just letting the 5 workday rule pass(tomorrow @ 3pm west coast time) and the deal is on the books. Like it or not, it would seem that we may be done with this. I won't put it to bed till it actually happens because this has been a strange friggin road. Like the deal or not, Lou went in and massaged the numbers enough that if Bettman wants to fight this deal he will HAVE to tear up all the other questionable deals too. The point was made...the lines have been drawn and war has been declared as far as the next cba goes. But this, as much as it chafes folks asses, is going to end tomorrow. I ****ing hope

If the Kovi/Devils deal finally goes through jerseydevil, you know they will be about 3mil or so over the cap and 2 other players to sign from what I read yesterday.:popc: If that is the case, who do you think Uncle Lou will trade just to get under the cap?.BTW,hope you had a good B'day.

Uncle Lou has some seriously incriminating photos of Bettman if so.

Well if you all want to dust off conspiricy theories the only reason the deal hasn't been approved is so that Lou can bargain from an uncompromised position. Ok here is how I see it...Zajac is the least likely to move, but do not rule it out. Rolston/Salvador are almost guaranteed to be gone. Zubrus's name keeps popping up, but I have a feeling, since he gelled with Kovy...he will stay. The Surprise move may be Clarkson to Toronto for Kaberle. Burke covets Clarkson, who is good but 1-dimensional. Devils need a puck mover with Martin gone...it's a trade that works both ways. Elias may move too. He is a Lou fave, but Vanderbeeck may want to put his mark on this team. Salary needs to be moved if Kovy/Parise are going to be this teams marquis stars. And all of you LGK'rs chompin at the thought of signing Parise...hold your horses.

You heard the one about the NHL only wanting to see a 13 year deal tops and Lou coming back and submitting a 15 year deal instead? I would say there is at least a 50/50 chance that the only asses that are going to be chafed today are that of Kovalchuk, Grossman, Vanderbeek, and Devils' fans that don't realize what they are getting into 100%.

I'm thinking that Lou might even let out a little sigh of relief.
