Well, Luongo's deal goes into effect this season even though it was signed in September of last year...things are gonna get real interesting now. ROFLMAO, this off season is frustratingly entertaining. Time for some popcorn and a couch to lounge on. This **** is getting interesting!

I just read the entire ruling and the NHLPA's argument was laughable at best.

Somehow IK not getting his $100 million deal doesn't serve as just punishment to me.

The commissioner finally showed a backbone in standing up to these cap circumvention contracts albeit late, so I want him to follow through with the aforementioned penalties. Now is not the time to back down if you're gearing up for a battle with the NHLPA over the next CBA. Since there were repercussions from this long drawn out soap opera, likewise, there should be payback for those involved in these shenanigans.
I would say put it to bed and move on, these types of contracts will not be happening after this. We don't need a war between the PA and the league starting with this and ending with another lockout. I wouldn't even fine the devils, the point has already been made and the teams have learned the lesson.

Is there anyone who doesn't think Kovi shouldn't fire his agent?

Missed out on $100 million in Atlanta
Screwed up the $100 million in New Jersey
Passed on the team and city where he wanted to play (LA) and burned bridges in the process....

I can surmise that all of this was at his agents suggestion or prodding, in the thought of the BIG payday.....

    Fools.

So it's entirely impossible that he really did want to play in NJ where he thinks he has a good chance of winning it all?
People keep saying he "wanted" to play in LA, but is there even a shred of evidence to back that claim? A quote from Kovalchuck?
IK wanting to play in LA is pure speculation based on what fans wanted and LA's cap space and IKs want for big dollars...nothing more. People need to stop making these statements for fact.

Where there is smoke, there is fire. Too many respected NHL writers among the many blogger and such all said that it was not a secret that IK and his wife really wanted to be in LA and play in LA, however that got derailed at some point where the $100 obsession came into the picture for IK's agent and Ik himself.

If he REALLY wanted to play here he could have. I know 80 million is just scraping by, but he probably could have paid his bills and found a nice mobile home on that paycheck.
Bottom line: Actions speak louder than words. He wanted NJ/Money more than he wanted to be a King. He made a choice and those of you that still want him are like the guy that wants a girl who dumped you for another man...pathetic.

PS-that is a general statement not directed at you.

Really? Why do people keep thinking he "wanted" to play here? He never wanted to play here. He wanted to use LA to up his price in NJ. Do you have proof he wanted to play in LA? Are you inside his head? From Kovi's own lips he said after visiting LA and management and some of the players it was easy for him to make up his mind 110%. People can say he was spoon fed this all they want. The fact is HE said it.

Yes. Ever see Being John Malcovich? Same thing. I am in IK's head right now.

Anyways, I could careless one way or the other. When you have many of the mainstream hockey heads 'reporting' that IK wants to be in LA, well perhaps it is a bit naive of me to assume that perhaps, maybe, there might have been a molecule of truth in it.

My original point was more along the lines of it seems that IK's agent is not really in the best interest of his client and more in the best interest of himself. Sure most are, but there is a way to pull it off without it being so blatant and making your client look a fool.

Oh I agree and didn't mean to single your post out as many others have said the same thing and I just wanted to make my point which came directly from his mouth and I fully believe it was all him saying that.
