The difference between Parise (possibly), Gomez, etc. and Doughty has nothing to do with Doughty loving the Kings growing up (it could help). It has everything to do with the Kings are going to lock up Doughty to the contract he deserves early. He is going to be more comparable to Ovechkin, Malkin, Nash, Koivu, Crosby, etc...

Right now Simmonds does not look like the type of player that is going to be overpriced to lock up.

Johnson is a tough call, but I truly believe despite popular belief, that DL wants Johnson locked up as well. JJ along DD is going to be a deadly combo. But as others have mentioned, if JJ has other intentions, there is really nothing the Kings can do. I hope he doesn't.

Don't forget, there are always teams out there that will up the ante for players...errrrcoughcoughRangerscough. And Simmonds is EXACTLY the kind of player that teams will throw a bad contract at. A guy who can score and drop the gloves.

Mitchells been cleared to play. He'll be an awesome pick up on a short 1 or 2 year deal. Solid 2 way defenseman. Obviously better defensively than offensively. Cap hit should be between 2-3 mil.

Doughty wants to get PAID. Just like every other hockey player, money talks. You don't think if the Kings offered 10 years at 100 million he wouldn't be here? What if he gets an offer sheet for 10 for 10? Would the Kings match?

Players, for he most part, really don't give a **** about the teams they play for, they care about the $$$. How many players, of the hundreds and hundreds have given their teams a "home team discount?" - Even Ryan Smyth, who was WORSHIPED in Edmonton. "Captain Canada" wanted to get PAID. Maybe Selanne has given the Ducks a discount, but Lidstrom hasn't.
