I, like you, weren't there when he was evaluated. I'm just a fan who's sick and tired of overpaying for injury-plagued players who we hope will regain their pre-injury glory days. We've been burned too much to not learn our lesson. (Cloutier, Nagy, Williams, Alyn McCauley, Bure etc...)

From doing some reading this was believed to be his 3rd or 4th concussion and was considered a grade III, which would put him in a career threatening situation especially with the style he plays. Do I want a player with this history and who is one NHL hit away from retirement? Maybe if the contract is all incentive based (which in reality it can't all be). That's what I'm thinking. How about you, Marcus Welby?

I think this is a very fair, accurate, reasonable argument and I agree with you.

Whoever here thinks Willie Mitchell is a done deal, is simply dreaming. Us Kings fans have been told various things in the past, Kovalchuk to LA was a done deal, Brière, Chara.. I think you all know where I'm coming from. Don't be 100% sure that Mitchell is going to sign, I mean I really think he'd be a perfect fit, but knowing how things usually pan out for DL & co., we shouldn't put the house on it.

Also, the top 6 forward is hopefully Jeff Carter or Derek Roy, we really need a second line center. I don't think Brayden Schenn will be a solid 2nd line guy, more like a 3rd line, shutdown center (see Jordan Staal). My hopes were for Andrei Loktionov to be that 2nd line, skill center (kind of like Malkin) but he doesn't have the right frame and will be probably eventually become a winger.

Hypothetically speaking, lineup in 2-3 years:

XX-Kopitar-Loktionov
Toffoli-Roy/Carter-Brown
Clifford-Schenn-Simmonds--> I look forward to this line in the future
Richardson-Lewis-Clune/Westgarth

Doughty-Johnson
Voynov/Hickey-Deslauriers

Getting Jeff Carter would mean trading Jonathan Quick + away, I'm ok with that. I don't know what the asking price for Derek Roy is though. Big hopes for Tyler Toffoli (as you can see), I'm from Ottawa and I've seen lots of his games with the 67's, if he can work on his skating, the guy will be nasty good, dirty hands.

This thread gets crazier and crazier. The middle of summer clearly drives people to the edge of insanity.
