What once was a hopeful post season has become a post season of heartbreak and disappointment. I think this team needs to do it on its own before any of these big timers take us seriously. If early playoff exits are what certain players want, then head to SJ. I still hold out hope for the chuk...but I doubt he comes here. As far as us trading for a scorer, who knows where that's gonna go. Bring on frozen fury, bring on the season and let's see the kings shock the league and do some serious damage.

You do know they are pretty much just waiting to see what the fine is don't you? I am sure they have a contract already done with room to adjust if needed pending the fine.
Don't worry. Kovy and the Devils are on the same page and the contract will be done between the 2.
SPORTS-EXPRESS: reports the New Jersey Devils have apparently offered Ilya Kovalchuk a contract of more than 10 years in length.
SPECTOR'S NOTE: Hat tip to George James Malik. No word on how much the offer is for but it's likely going to average out to over $7 million per season and will be front-loaded, only not as much as the last one which the league rejected.

I'm shocked that Kovalchuk hasn't gotten a new contract by the Devils.. I'd be shocked if it wasn't done by this week's end
