kovi is not a dean guy, and he will be way too much, and if he signed a 10 year contract, i'd be so pissed.

new york will unload Drury and rozsival to Gainey and sign Kovalchuk to a 12 year deal with a 7.5 million dollar cap hit.

According to this site (not too reliable from what I recall in the past), Kovy is about to sign a long-term deal with Atlanta for the CBA max $11.36M per.

It's funny how one person misspells his name and so a bunch of others do the exact same thing. It's KOVALCHUK. Whoever said cap space isn't an issue, why not? Please explain to me why cap space isn't an issue when we just picked up a 6.25 mill contract and still need to get Frolov an extension. On top of that nobody knows what the cap will be next year. Of course it's a damn issue.

Kovalchuk isn't available until after next year and yes, we don't know the cap then either. Also the CBA is set to expire around then, we should probably wait and not make any moves until after that.

    /sarcasm

If you're referring to me, what I actually said was, "You sign Kovalchuk, then deal with it later."

Kovalchuk is a special player and he should be treated as such. It's hard do justify paying him on par with the Crosbys, Malkins and Ovechkins of the world but in the open market, you might have to.

Kovalchuk is the captain of his team and the only reason he's considering leaving (rumor has it...) is that he's not convinced that management is trying it's best to win. Also, 50 goal scorer and has never played with a #1 center.

u can hate me for this or what i dont care, but trade deadline comes this year and kovi isnt still signed i think u package up fro, purcell, hickey, n 2nd for him, y we do that we got smyth now on lw and i doubt were gona trade him so fro become more tradeable n has better value in any trade, purcell we can live without and hickey we are so backed up on D that we can afford to loose him, if we can package this up i dont find any reason why atl. wouldnt want to make the deal we get what we need someone that can take the game over all by him self and atl gets young talented forwards and a soon to be superstar D.

Atlanta doesn't make this deal because Frolov will then walk as an UFA, Purcell is a relative nothing at this point in time, Hickey isn't THAT attractive to a team that has some solid depth defensively through their system and the 2nd is a non-starter. If Atlanta deals him this way, if I'm Waddell I'm looking for something like Simmonds, Moller, Johnson and our 1st. Now that's likely a non-starter from the Kings end, especially for a soon to be UFA, but...a lot closer to what I think Atlanta would be interested in.
