I'd just rather the whole thing be kept private and not broadcasted out there for all the world to see. Hockey has managed to keep a pretty clean nose when compared to Football and Basketball players. God, being of the old school, I'd rather see the kids be able to just keep admiring and looking up to their sports hero.

Do you really find that so hard to believe?

    Pronger and Ovechkin.

It's not so hard to believe. Not passing judgement but these guys rough their bodies up. Anyone who has played the game, even beer league, knows that if you are playing hard, your body feels it. Now add to that travel, tougher opponents and the lure of even more money and one can see why. Again, not passing judgement.

I can't think of any really top-tier players, in any sport, that became top-tier managers or coaches; most of the good ones were guys who weren't gifted athletically. They got by with smarts and character.

Frank Robinson was a great hitter in both leagues, an All-Star, - very mediocre manager / Tommy Lasorda was a minor league pitcher - World Series skipper.

Larry Robinson - HOF player, terrific asistant coach - not much happening as a head coach.

Laraque's quote doesn't surprise me in the least; I'd much rather have Bylsma as a coach than Gretzky any day of the week.

Oh yeah, except for that Stanley Cup...and before you dismiss that, his paint peeling tirade that brought the Devils back from the brink against the Flyers in the semi-finals is the stuff of legend.

Wasn't that the year where he was promoted after the head coach was fired with two weeks left in the season?
