I know it won't happen... but the league should just punish Vancouver for that awful contract.
All 29 GMs around the league should laugh and hang up when propositioned about Luongo, even if they need help at goaltender.
The Canucks made their bed with that deal... they shouldn't get a bailout.
But in that scenario the very people laughing and hanging up the phone are the very people who have continually shat the bed when it comes to skirting the CBA with these kinds of contracts. For every Luongo there's a Bryzgalov, DiPietro, Redden, Gomez, Campbell, Nash, etc.
Awful how? Decent cap hit, big money up front then later in career smaller actual salary with a cap hit that would be helpful for many teams. You should reserve your nonsensical points for guys like Bryzgalov and overpaid young dmen. If it were indeed nearly as bad as you seem to think, nobody would "bail" us out. In fact, i don't think you understand what the term "bail out" even means.
