I'm thinking 2 games just because Miller got a concussion.

3 games, he didn't make an attempt to stop. Goalies are NOT fair game according to rule 42.1.

A goalkeeper is not “fair game” just because he is outside the goal crease area. The appropriate penalty should be assessed in every case where an opposing player makes unnecessary contact with a goalkeeper. However, incidental contact, at the discretion of the Referee, will be permitted when the goalkeeper is in the act of playing the puck outside his goal crease provided the attacking player has made a reasonable effort to avoid such contact.

No suspension for Lucic. I think it was the right call the penalty was enough.

I think it's an awful call. I do see a brand new playoff strategy though: run the opposing goalie as hard as you can until they are injured. It would be well worth the 2 minute penalty in a 7 game series. Then run the back up. 2 more minutes. That should make scoring easy. Then in game 2 run the AHL call ups. Then in game 3 run the ECHL call ups. By game 4, your trampling an undrafted NCAA Div III goalie on an emergency deal despite the fact he hasn't played in 3 months.

At the very least, 5 for charging on the ice. Goalies are not protected or padded like players for hits like this. For all of Shanahan's big talk in the preseason he sure has become rather random and limp wristed.

Miller came out to play the puck and if Lucic was going full force to hit Miller,then I would say a suspension is warranted.But,he was slowing down and I think Miller knew he was going to get hit and embellished it a little. To me,if a goalie comes out of the crease to play the puck,they are fair game to a certain point.

The League wanted to limit goalies handling the puck, they did two things:

1. Implemented the trapezoid
2. Didn't suspend Lucic.

I think the NHL go it right and no, they didn't declare "open season" on goalies. If Miller is a few feet from his crease, probably a different story...

yeah, Miller threw his helmet as far as he could. and slowing down? do you see him putting on the brakes there? did you even notice the follow through of Lucic's arms?

Shoulda got at least 5. You don't run a goalie on purpose, ever. It's attempt to injure, plain and simple.

Though what's just as disappointing is Buffalo didn't just beat the **** out of Lucic.
