Would someone please start a Cammy vs Lombardi thread so we could get the view from the other side. Thanks.

Funny stuff here...good ol' LGK.
First off, let's not criticize the actual trade. That isn't the issue. The issue was whether the Kings wanted the guy LONG TERM. Because they didn't the trade was made. Otherwise it's moot.
Now...was it wise to not sign him? Based on some of his statement it was a NO BRAINER. He wanted to play in Canada evidently and I'm pretty sure Lombari knew this. Hell, he didn't even stay in Calgary after the contract run out so what makes anyone think he'd have stayed here? So having him here LAST SEASON in hopes of signing him in the summer of 2009 would have been idiotic and I'm sure we would have heard from the armchair GMs about that ad nauseum. So, IMO, it was just wise to let him go early.
Adding to this: Just because he is having a good playoff may not mean so much. There are countless examples of good playoff runs by players. We'll have to wait and see how it works for MC.

Whoa.... ho' down there big fella. Way too much rational thinking there. You must be looking for the rational thread down the hall.
Cammy's on fire now, no doubt. But it wasn't the lack of sniping that knocked us out of the first round as much as it was lack of a Halak type goalie performance. He's the reason the Habs are where they are, not Cammy.
In this country, you gotta make the money first. Then when you get the money, you get the power. Then when you get the power, then you get the donuts.
I've seen this quote over and over and I'm really wondering if there is ANY evidence BEFORE he was traded.
This is a comment made after the trade and played to the press and the fans. I also never said anything negative about LA. I think the quote was "Even though I enjoyed playing in LA", to get to Calgary and play before people who live an breathe hockey is a great experience. Wasn't that close to what he said.
Again, after the fact. Find me something before the trade that says he wanted to walk. He never gave that impression on or off the ice to me.
Sometimes it's OK to admit you're wrong.
Here you go...
Inside the Kings
Oh wait...Q: Do you want to be back?
Cammalleri: I definitely want to be a King. It will be interesting to see what we do.
From what I remember Cammi had started to get involved with the NHLPA and it seemed clear that he was not going to sign any long term contract until he could go on the open market.
This is same group that complained when Dustin Brown signed a team friendly contract. They are only interested in driving up the price so the next simular guy can use it as a comparitable.
