Mark Howe was the toughest defenseman to play against throughout his career in both leagues. He was far more than Gordie's son. His play was legendary in its own right. He is definitely HOF material and I loved the tribute to his dad when he put on the #9 Wings jersey. Total class.

Not only was he a standout defenseman, Howe excelled as a forward playing with his father and brother in the WHL. It's all part of a great hockey story/legend.

Not going to comment on this statement, as was watching the game the nite that you're referring to and also the Habs call on his stick. Don't know if you heard Luc the nite of one of the ASG's when he and Pat LaFontain were being interviewed. Luc finally spoke out and said the nite of that stick call, you could hear sticks breaking like hell over on the Habs bench. Take that for what it's worth.

I have nothing against Marty, stuff happens. In fact, I was surprised to see Brashear drop like he did. To me, the slash doesn't look vicious at all but just very accurate.

What turned the Brashear incident into a an uglier incident was his head hitting the ice. I really don't think the initial hit did that much damage. Not that I'm condoning what McSorley did.

Brashear had been asking for trouble that whole game. Not that Marty was in the right but, that guy was getting under a lot of peoples skin that night.
What has bothered me ever since that nite. Marty was all but banished from the NHL. Oh, I know he could have played but, for who? Now, let's discuss Tod Bertuzzi and what he did to Steve Moore......Isn't it a litle unfair that Bertuzzi is still playing? Moore isn't and yet Brashear was able to continue with his playing career.

Life isn't fair. I am a nicer guy than either and never got to play a single game. Marty was 37 at the time and his career was practically done.

Brash and Marty fought early that game. I think I recall Brashear bumping into the Bruins goalie later than game, but that might be a misunremembering.

Brashear was a dirty player and you remember correct. Marty's nature was to always stick up for his team. Just as Sean O'Donnell was.

Howe is a no-brainer for the HOF.

What annoys the hell out of me is certain fans saying Moore is milking it and he should just leave Bertuzzi alone (re: lawsuit). Or worse, he was a fringe player who likely wouldn't have had a long career anyway so no big deal. To this day I cannot look at Bertuzzi without getting angry.

Same here. I've always loved watching the Wings and to see him on that team, I just get furious whenever he's out there on the ice.
