Thread: Mark Howe in the HOF?

Other than being Gordie's son and playing 22 years in the league 197 goals and 742 points, why is he in the HOF?

No stanley cups - three RUNNER UP Norris.. No SC or Norris and not even 200 goals and he's worthy of the hall??

I was too young to remember his prime so I can't really comment but I'd be lying if I said I didn't ask myself the same thing.

And maybe it's just me but I'm getting sick of the "Leafs would have won if not for Fraser missing Gretzky's high stick" stance that keeps coming out of Toronto. It was even in Gilmour's freakin' presentation video. Give me a break. Guess what. Game 7 was in Toronto and you still lost. Get over it.

It is the HOCKEY Hall of Fame, not the NHL Hall. He was a dominant WHA defenceman who between the 2 leagues has about 1200+ points. While being a Howe didn't hurt, you can't discount anything he accomplished.

Also have to mention that I loved Nieuwendyk's comment to Roberts about McSorley.

I liked that one too. Nice to hear someone refer to Marty in a way other than that damned stick incident.

Howe was the Scott Niedermayer of his day. He absolutely belongs in the Hall.

We usually refer to Marty's "stick incident" as the one that earned him criminal charges as a Bruin.

I don't remember very much abt Howe either but then, we didn't have that much access to games via tv either.
