Mike Smith had the best season of his career last season, and pretty much single handedly got the Coyotes to the playoffs. It wasn't against the Kings in the playoffs that he started throwing tantrums, he had the same act all season long, the majority of Kings fans just never noticed it because no one payed attention to Phx unless they were playing LA. It worked for him then, and hopefully it will work for him this season.

I not a big fan of Smith, and it has nothing to do with the tantrums. I have a problem with cheap shots (ie: shot to the back of Brown's knees) and players who dive (ie: 2012 playoffs). If the tantrums somehow motivate him to go on a hot streak...then I hope he breaks a few more sticks this season.

And I'll be just fine to see the Coyotes miss the playoffs this year. Talk about a BS way to consistently win games. Rope-a-dope, let your goalie save your ass repeatedly, and then score a counter punch goal that went off the opposing player's jock and in. Worst good team ever.
That is how you've gotta win games when you have virtually zero talent or depth on your team. You know your team is gonna have to grind out some ugly wins when your best player is Keith f'n Yandle. I'm ok with it though. The roster the Coyotes have put out over the last 3 years have been some of the hardest working teams I've seen in the 16 years they've been in Phx.

Makes me wonder how the hell Kopitar got a 10-minute misconduct for smacking the glass early last season as went back onto the bench.

at the draft party a couple of years ago, and under a considerable haze, i heard Birdman yell out the following (about 4 or 5 times, i think) - "don't marry yourselves to players!" he went on to reiterate that idea more than once on the boards, and i believe it to be absolutely sage.

"Lower body injury" which somehow occurred during warmups last night... or so they say. I was right up against the glass during warmups and I didn't see anything from him that suggested he may have injured himself. Who knows? Luckily LaBarbara stepped up and played a pretty damn good game.
