As you may or may not have heard, former Tampa Bay Lightning player Fredrik Modin, in his native Sweden, officially announced his retirement. Clearly, the constant injuries he has endured finally took their toll.

Congrats on a very good career, i enjoyed his short stint here last season w/ the Kings.

Congrats to Freddie Modin on a great career. He was a good player, a winner(cup, gold medal) and an even better teammate.

To me, it's always sad to see players have to give up the sport they love so much. Their entire lives wrapped around hockey and then to have to walk away, must be a heartbreaking experience. I don't care how much money they've earned.
