Default An the most popular buyout on Capgeek.com is...[Roberto Luongo Thread]

    Roberto Luongo

CapGeek.com :: It's a numbers game :: The definitive source for NHL salary cap data and player contracts

    Right column halfway down.

If there is any player that folks would be pining for the CBA "Amnesty Clause" its him.
    jammer06 and Bollocks like this.
at the draft party a couple of years ago, and under a considerable haze, i heard Birdman yell out the following (about 4 or 5 times, i think) - "don't marry yourselves to players!" he went on to reiterate that idea more than once on the boards, and i believe it to be absolutely sage.

no because that would mean Philly would be off the hook for Bryzgalov, which down the line, would subsequently mean Dean will do it... because he always does what the Flyers tell him to do.

but in all seriousness, that would really only benefit the wealthier teams with being able to basically circumvent the cap, no?

Damn...his contract is probably the worst of 'em all.

EDIT: Of current active players. So, no Yashin.

And he's willing to waive it, likely to go to a half dozen teams.

Its such a no brainer for him to go back to Florida and play for Tampa.

@Realkyper Luongo asks for trade. Van didn't even need to ask him to waive NTC. He tells them himself in exit meeting he wants out

Canuck fans turning on themselves arguing whether or not Van fans are to blame for "having run" Luongo out of town.

    The hyperbole is entertaining.

Van fans might have played a small part in it. They have given him alot of crap over the years. However i think its got more to do with the way the playoffs played out and there really isnt any one thing to blame it on. Luongo didnt play poorly but at the same time you can't really blame AV for trying to shake things up and playing Schneider. Guess you can blame Schneider for playing so well.

You mean the fans who also "Luoooooo" every time he stops the puck? Even on a simple dump in?

I don't really think Luongo faced any more flack from fans than any other top tier player does when he struggles.

Bosotn has ripped on Thomas at times; LA - Kopitar; Washington - Ovechkin etc. etc. etc.

IMO the fans didn't run Luongo out-of-town; Schneider level of play did.

That being said - RL is the best goalie in franchise history. I have gained a tremendous amount of respect for the way he has handled himself during what must have been a very challenging situation. I wish him nothing but continued success wherever he ends up.

According to Dan Murphy (Canuck beat reporter) TB and TO are 2 teams on Bobby Luo's list that he is willing to waive too.

I agree thats why i said small part. The whole situation is just awkward.

TO has his favorite goalie coach in the world. TB has his wife. It will be interesting to see how it pays out.
