    Default New CBA?

Now that the draft is over please lock the PA and Betman and company in a room and don't let them out until they have a new CBA in place. All I have heard is that both sides are "ready to start talking soon." I was secretly hoping that they were quietly working on the new CBA as the season was winding down. Looks like I was wrong.

It's going to take longer than September to come up with a deal if they are only going to meet once a week.

They are in no hurry. I don't expect the season to start on time, and that pipe dream of continuing to work under the old CBA till...yeah, don't count on that either. It hasn't been as contentious as I expected so far but you can believe this...the owners don't mind if the season doesn't start till December. Cost of running business savings are, in most cases, better than the actual profits. And they are steadfastly sure that the fans will come back even happier to plunk down their dollars because, at least a whole season wasn't lost. And we will.

i think the season will start without a new CBA and the players will strike before the playoffs start if they cant come to a new agreement. Similar to what happened in the 90's. Players will get most of their salary for the year and they will screw the owners out of playoff revenue.

At least they haven't taken their cases to the media yet.

    Default New CBA?

The whole waiting until the last minute to negotiate thing is beyond frustrating but at the same time, both sides know no one will cave until the last minute so what's the point in starting early.

Let's remember though, the game is a lot healthier then it was last time around. I am sure there are some compromising that is going to have to take place from both sides, but last time aroung they needed an overhaul. This time they should just need some tweaking. The salary cap has gone up every year since the CBA, and at the time, the major problem, was invoking the salary cap.

I am hopeful they can get this done so there is no work stopage.

I honestly don't see a lockout or strike happening. I just don't think there is a big enough issue that cannot be resolved to result in a work stoppage.

    3-contracts limites to 5 years 4-no more salary arbitration. 5- entry-level contract 5 years instead of 3.
