If they are going to go with a 16/14 split....

LA, ANA, SJ, PHX, VAN, EDM, CAL
    COL,MIN,WPG,CHI,STL,DAL,NSH
    BUF,BOS,MTL,TOR,OTT,DET,PIT,CMB
    NYR,NYI,NJ,PHI,WSH,CAR,TB,FLA

Switch Colorado and Phoenix if Phoenix ends up moving to KC for example.

Saw this yesterday on twitter and I love the idea! You've got to assume that the NBA follows suit the next year.

Hey Doc, isn't the whole point of this realignment so Columbus & Detroit can go East? If so, you've got both teams in the Midwest on your list. Moving those 2 East leaves the West with only 12 teams. Don't know which of the other teams would be added to the Western Conference. Unless Nashville stays.
A Devils' fan's take on the Stanley Cup Finals against the Kings:

"You guys are retarded. There are 28 teams that would KILL to be getting their ass kicked by LA in the finals. Show some god damn humility and stop being sore losers."

How is this going to affect the playoffs? Please don't tell me they are going to have divisional playoffs again....argh...I hated that.

I'm sure it'll wind up looking nothing like how I chopped it up.... I's just sayin' that's how I would do it.

Frankly... I don't care about what Detroit and Columbus want. The NHL has 12 franchises all clustered together up in the North East.

    13 if you count Columbus.

Someone is ALWAYS going to get boned in any kind of alignment.

in the form of a 14 west-16 east here is my guess

    West:

Pacific : LA, Anaheim, San Jose, Vancouver, Phoenix, Calgary, Edmonton
Mid-West: Colorado, Dallas, Winnepeg, Minnesota, Chicago, St. Louis, Nashville

    East:

Southeast: Columbus, Carolina, Tampa Bay, Florida, Washington, Philly, Pittsburgh, Detroit
Northeast: Buffalo, NYR, NYI, NJ, Ottawa, Toronto, Boston Montreal

I dunno the 6 division of 5 system seems to be okay..but it does have it's odd flaws

But honestly..of all the teams. DALLAS ****s up the geographics of it all most evidently. They get vilified no matter where they go in terms of travel.

In one division there is at least on thing that makes little sense.

Washington in the Southeast makes zero sense to me, Dallas in the Pacific makes no sense to me.

I mean...the 16-14 makes sense but it also has it's flaws...because to make it a 15-15 you would almost have to put someone like Pittsburgh in the West..that wouldn't make sense AND if there really is this pull to put Columbus and Detroit in the East...well **** that throws a big wrench in a lot of it...

what are they going to make a South division that spans from LA to South Beach? Seriously?

Yea pretty much the East has too many teams too close together, and there is always going to be an odd man outsider.

    Ala..Washington in the Southeast.

    Ding!

That's why I suggest a North/South Conference alignment instead of East/West but as Darby would love to tell you... it has it's flaws too.

    ****ing Dallas.
