Just as a big F U to the league office, I'd love to see Ovechkin come out for his first shift in an exhibition game with a huge billowing jersey that goes down to his knees.

I wonder if pre face off we'll see guys trying to tuck other guys jerseys into their pants and other shenanigans

So basically you get 2 min for imitating the great one? I didn't think the NHL would try to emulate the NFL by instituting such dumbass rules. What's next? 2 min for spitting on the ice?

No jersey Tuck Rule
Well, Semin actually received a "delay of game" penalty for it. Delay of game? How the **** is having your jersey tucked in a delay of game?
This is hands down, the stupidest **** I've seen the NHL do, and that's saying a lot. It's extremely concerning to me that the league feels it necessary to change things just for the sale of changing them. Was it really THAT much of an inconvenience to get the players number with his jersey tucked in? Total joke, and everyone knows it's a joke.
Sorry, but this one is just so ridiculous, it really scares me for what garbage the league comes up with next.

Watching the Leafs and Sens Pre-season game and Garrisson on the Leafs has had his jersey tucked or quasi-tucked for the whole 1st period and no penalty yet.
Chicken parm brought up a point hesitantly. Next up ads on the back lower portion of the jersey.
Such a retarded rule.

On the TSN coverage of the Leaf/Senators game, Ray Ferraro put forth the theory that enforcement of this rule might be the first step to the league adding advertising to the bottom part of the jersey. If this happens, I will be so royally u*cking pissed.
EDIT: Sorry, mudfisher. You got there first. I had my reply open for quite a while before hitting "post".

This is more asinine than the old foot-in-the-crease rule.

I'm not sure what to think of this new rule. I think it's here just because Ovechkin looks like an idiot wearing a life preserver above his ass when he tucks in his jersey. His ass pad even blocks part of his number.

I think Ovie tucks because his jerseys are too small / tight. If they were a larger cut, I think it would be more comfortable to go over his pants. Like what a lot of fans have posted, many times tucks happen just during game play - which is due to the tighter RBK cut imo.
All I know is Ovie looks like a moron with half his jersey tucked into his pants - it's not a good look in any way shape or form. Which is too bad because most hockey jerseys just look waaaay cool (I would give the Caps only a C+ though). A 2 minute penalty seems a bit harsh, but ... a both-sides-tucked-in-jersey is really a stupid image for the NHL.
