They should totally trade down and pick up game ready assets. They need defense and Murray or Dumba won't help them right now. Create a bidding war for Yakupov and trade down for more picks/actual NHL talent

its ok, pick away Edmonton. Cause you know as soon as those talented kids can they will do what every other gifted athlete does... GET THE HELL OUT OF EDMONTON!
I was just amazed to see the words 'Oilers' and 'win' in the same sentance.
Those young players still have no idea how to win in the NHL and the longer it goes the harder it'll be. Tambellini thinks he's doing what Pittsburgh and Chicago did but those teams actually had a good supporting cast. And how many of these contracts will they be able to afford when the ELC's are up?
i say HUZZAH for the Jackets. Jackie and the wild back-end bunch ain't gonna cut it if they intend to rebuild correctly - and around Johnson. now they don't even have to blink about taking that defenseman at #2... and clear their consciences about wiping the slate clean when it comes to drafting another Russian forward.
funny thing is, aside from trading the pick - which is what i think they (Edmonton) should do in order to get themselves their Jack Johnson, they SHOULD be the ones taking that Murray kid... but they won't. they'll take one of those Russians. i'd bee seriously floored if they didn't.
bingo lingo, mein Freund!
he's taken a few similar paths to glory before... he's fast approaching do yes or do no time. they done run out of Bababooeys in net to abuse. 'Bulin has been their Dan Cloutier for how long now?
absolutely!

but, but Sam Gagner had 8 points in that one game!
Cornell Hockey - LETS GO RED!
"I love this f***ing team right here."
Edmonton should look the trade route or just draft Ryan Murray because the Russians won't play in Canada's Siberia. The Russians came here to play junior hockey in Canada and that's about it. Having said that if Grigorenko slips to Montreal they take him and throw boatloads of money at him. That's a big if though because Columbus will surely take him if the foolish Oilers take Yakupov. Besides the drafting issue the Oilers are in tough with a whole bunch of dead weight contracts(Horcoff,Whitney,Khabibulin) who collectively had a cap hit of 13.250M last season. Add that to the fact that they will have to trade or give raises to the likes of Gagner,Petry,Dubnyk, and Peckham. These 4 players made 2.25,0.850,0.800, and 1.075 million last winter also. I'm sure they will be looking to double their current stipend. And in a year Hall(3.770M) and Eberle(1.158M) will want a raise also. How much will they command 4,5,6 Million per year. And we haven't even thought about what Yakupov will ask for...surely more than Hall or N-Hopkings so lets say 4-4.5 M...And what will be the sell in Edmonton that the team is a good young team...Hardly...they have some good even great young players but outside of that a bunch of veterans just drawing a paycheck. So Edmonton fans should just look to next years next year country for more hope...
