There aren't too many goalies that you could expect more out of if its a question of "if I had to pick a goalie for one playoff year..."

That being said, he's as much of a bubble selection as you may ever see.
    I agree.

I don't care how good the team in front of you is, winning a ****in' Stanley Cup isn't easy. And winning 3?

    Ask Roberto Luongo.

You need to be more than just decent or ok.

Throughout his career he was only in the All-Star game twice. Twice.
Also, how often do you remember him flat out STEALING a game or series for that matter? Osgood was a good goalie, but I think he said it best himself "I always knew I played on a good team, but I had to make the big saves at the right time. If I had to sum up my career in Detroit, I was the right guy at the right time. You just had to play.”

Throughout his career he was constantly being moved or having someone acquired to fill his skates as the #1. No Conn Smyth, hardly ever seen as one of the 3 best in his own Conference (All-Star nod). The guy was pretty damn good, no HOFer though.

    Winning 2.

And who says you have to be more than just decent or ok?

As for Luongo... I think you mean "Ask Curtis Joseph, Ron Hextall and John Vanbiesbrouck"

So yank his ass out of the Hall too while you're at it.

the problem with that is, let's go through the HOF goaltenders we never saw play and try to justify how deserving they are because they too played for outstanding teams.

SK brought up Cheevers, which is a really good example.

I dunno, when I think of HOF goaltenders, I think of guys like Bernie Parent and Ken Dryden. Chris Osgood never pops into my head in that category and doesn't belong with those guys.

Let's put it this way Rogie isn't in the HOF. He deserves to be there waaaaay before Chris Osgood.

Not sure where you are going with this but if Osbad makes the HOF Fuhr most certainly has to. And, yeah, I saw him play...a lot.

Vachon not being there is actually a CRIME...but it's no surprise for a group that couldn't put Pat Burns in there.

Also, I cannot WAIT for the day the HOF puts Rob Blake in (which could happen). LGK will implode while sucking the chipmunks that drive the server into the inevitable black hole it creates. Should be fun.

Blake should make it too. I hate the guy and how he handled himself here as a professional, but that doesn't mean the guy wasn't a fantastic player either.

I have no idea why Vachon isn't in but he must have pissed someone off royally (no pun intended). Having said that, because one person who deserves to be in there isn't, that's no reason to exclude someone who should be in.

Too much grade inflation. Osgood was a C+ goalie, maybe a B- at best. That isn't what the HOF is about.

    I have a perfect solution!

I DON'T ****ING CARE ABOUT PLAYERS IN THAT HALL THAT I DIDN'T SEE!

    I saw Osgood.

I don't think he was a Hall of Fame player.

I'm perfectly happy to be told that there are players presently in the Hall that I wouldn't have thought were deserving of induction had I watched them/been alive during their career.

The argument that the Hall is "compromised" and therefore Osgood "deserves" to further compromise it is not compelling.

NOW LEMME ASK YOU ALL THIS.........

Is Evgeni Nabokov a potential Hall of Fame goaltender?
