I for one am glad to see Sully move to Phoenix, where he'll be with a lot of good young talent, and a solid coach behind the bench in Tippett. Hopefully he can carve himself out a nice career there, because I still think he has a lot of potential.
I remember Lombardi saying that he was disappointed in having to give up O'Sullivan, but that he felt they were getting a very big piece in return with Williams. I wonder if he would do that same trade again?
Edit: O'Sullivan was traded to Phoenix for defensemen Jim Vandermeer for those who haven't seen.
We'll be seeing more of him now. He is a Coyote.
Phoenix bought him out...man that's bad when your traded not because they want you, but to be bought out because you're cheaper
Well, that rules out maybe getting Vandermeer as a 5th or 6th D-Man. Too bad. Seems like a quality guy to have on your side.
Waived then traded then bought out...tough 48 hours for him.
pwnd.
Is the NHL, which owns Phoenix, now in the business of providing instant cap relief to financially troubled, small market Canadian teams?
Wow, what a kicker, a couple of years ago he wanted $5m, now he's sans team, traded from the worst team in the NHL because he was THAT BAD then bought without even donning the jersey of his new team.
The Coyotes didn't even want to kick his tyres, straight away, bought out.
That's really got to knock you for six.
Perhaps this is a good thing for him.
