I don't see how the Kings get Parise without giving up either Bernier or Schenn (not both). Mayyyyybe they could give up Martin Jones instead of Bernier and then overpay with other assets to compensate. Something like:
Jones, Voynov, Hickey, Moller, Parse, 1st in 2012.
The only way ANY kind of deal happens is if NJ is desperate...and I just don't see that yet. If the Kings had Parise would YOU want to trade him? Probably not. LL I'm sure has thought this through even before they signed IK. I just don't see a deal with the Kings...or any team right now.Quote:

Looking from the Devil's perspective, they obviously need a goalie, so first off Bernier has to be part of the deal. Plus, a young veteran defensemen would fit, so I'd include JMFJ and his -21 rating. those would be the big names in the deal, but I'd also be open to letting two go of Parse, Moller, King, Cliche, Hickey, and Holloway. I'd also be open to letting Stoll go if I felt that both Schenn and Lokti would make the team.
This deal could be a win-win for both teams. Kings get a desperately needed first line winger, and the Devils get a couple of starters and some depth.
So, they can't afford Parise (which I think they can), but they're going to take on the 1.25 million from Bernier, the 4.24 million from JJ, and the 3.25 from Stoll? How much do you think Parise is actually going to be making? They've got over 7 million in cap room right now before the cap is adjusted up. Figure between 9-11 million after that. Figure Parise could get around 5 million a year. They've got 4-6 million for four more guys. That's not even factoring in NJ dumping someone to the minors like they do every year. :)Quote:

It was a major knee injury and it remains to be seen how much of an impact that is going to have on him going forward. As a little speedster that injury may be more troublesome than any of us know. Add to that questions of character(nothing proven but when you hear it enough you have to at least keep it in mind) and the fact that he is going to want a 'retirement contract' are you really going to want to roll the dice that much? I know you guys think Parise is the be all and end all but he is more of a Gomez/Gionta than a Sid the Kid. I think your money is better spent elsewhere.
Oh, and he has been negated/disappeared in the Playoffs at every opportunity.
Obviously, Parise's health must be completely vetted before any deal gets made. But assuming he's OK, I still make the deal. Sure it's a roll of he dice, but one worth taking IMO. While he's not been great in the NHL playoffs, I think he proved that he can step up in the olympics last year.
I just don't believe he's in the long term plans of the Devils, and if that's true, the Devils should try to make the best deal they can, and i believe the Kings can offer the best deal.
You have to keep in mind you are hypothetically trading for a player that has to ACTUALLY WANT TO SIGN with your team. Zach is an East coast guy and has said that he knows this next contract is going to represent the meat of his career/legacy. He wants to go to a team that has a legitimate plan in place to be a consistent winner. While we can argue all day that the Kings do have this, you can see how a potential free agent would have reservations. Yeah, the Kings have what the Devils need, but you guys aren't going to want to trade for a guy who doesn't intend to sign long term.Quote:

I believe that the Kings would be considered a Cup contender by any free agent. Whether he's want to live here and play here is another question.
