What is taking the Devils so long?
Maniacal Laugh, Maniacal Laugh, Maniacal Laugh
money... as the cap currently stands, they have a little over $7Million with 17 players.
Parise is 26-years old and will without a doubt be looking at an 8-10 year deal in excess of $6Million per... it's gonna take quite a bit of wrangling to make that happen.
you guys forgot to read the last paragraph...
Do I want Parise to stay, sure. Do I think he would be better off going to a more offensive minded team? Hell yeah. It's not the end of the world if he leaves...on the Devils he is a 25-30 goal scorer, whereas somewhere else he may put up 50. He's small...and you can't teach size. He has tons of heart to make up for that, but I question just how bitter he is towards Lou concerning Langen-Gate. Jamie is a good friend of Zach's and towards the end JL was a cancer to my team. I am not sure how much of that runs through Parise. This team has had problems, in the locker room, keeping a coach...etc. And if losing Parise means getting rid of some of those problems, than it's a price I am willing to pay. Lou needs to get something in return(Schenn maybe????) and I believe he will. Then again, an arbitration deal for this season — after a season that was basically lost to injury for Parise — might benefit the cap-strapped Devils, who will clear Brian Rolston's(notes) contract off the cap in 2012 and are projected to have $26.3 million open in 2012-13, via Cap Geek. Get Parise in for a 1-year deal, sign him long-term during the season. But that risks UFA status. Ask the Dallas Stars about that risk.
To even consider a deal with parise say goodbye to johnson, moller, schenn and bernier. Maybe the kings can pull it off and get into the first round of the draft again, but I'd see zp in winnipeg, phoenix or calgary before la

Of course you would so I agree with you completely...which is exactly why I'd never do that trade (as a Kings fan)...if you want equal value then Schenn would be involved. HOWEVER, the Kings need to trade from their strengths (defense) and not their weakness (forwards). Which, again, may mean there really isn't a realistic trade to be made between these two teams. Frankly, if I'm DL I don't trade Schenn...period.
