An argument can be made that the slavish devotion to Marty has hurt my Devs at times and a goalie like Scott Clemmensen filled in just fine when Marty had that bicep tear 2 seasons ago. I wouldn't be the one making that argument, but it's a fair point. Elite goaltenders are becoming a thing of the past.
So trade your leading scorer and basically the captain for an unproven one and a defenseman that might go to the KHL? That sounds like a fantastic deal. I'm sure Lou is offering it up right now. Parise doesn't want to leave New Jersey. He's not coming to LA. Neither was Nash. Neither was Stamkos. Neither was Lecavalier. Neither was Richards. Neither was Lindros. Neither was Nolan.
Yep, and that bigger contract doesn't have to be with the Devils necessarily. I think Parise was a tad unhappy with Lou last season and is going to see how things are looking for the team next season before he decides whether or not to be a Devil long term.
Lou getting to draft Larsen helped his side of the argument some, but we'll see how much.

Ok. You guys go ahead and order your jersey's. I'll watch as yet another fantasy burns and the status quo happens again. If you don't get that signing a one year deal is a benefit to both sides right now because of the looming season/arbitration/CBA, I can't help you.
I agree with this. Lou has been romancing ZP since the end of the season. Inviting him to the draft, (some would suggest) floating coaching candidates off of him, and now this deal. A lot of 'faith' is being floated out there on Lou's part. The thing that keeps nagging at me are the questions about Zach's desire to remain a Devil. The looming CBA is certainly a factor too.
