I'm just glad they didn't go to
Detroit.

Neither are worth a 7.5 a year for 13 years. Wild will be good, but won't be able to afford pieces to complete the puzzle.
They will be fine cap wise especially when the cap is 80mil in 5 years
Maniacal Laugh, Maniacal Laugh, Maniacal Laugh
The Wild are going to have some real star power but I wonder if they will be able to afford the depth necessary to win a cup.
I"m shocked.
at the draft party a couple of years ago, and under a considerable haze, i heard Birdman yell out the following (about 4 or 5 times, i think) - "don't marry yourselves to players!" he went on to reiterate that idea more than once on the boards, and i believe it to be absolutely sage.

I think Parise may be. Will see.
I don't automatically look at the Wild and think cup contender even with these two added. I think playoff team, and the northwest just got tougher.
Of all teams bidding that were going after both, I am glad they went to minny and not Philly, Detroit or pits.
I now wonder what will happen in the trade market.
IMHO, that's a stupid amount to be paying Parise. Yes, I acknowledge that he has formidable intangibles, but that kind of money and term for a non-center who doesn't average a point-per-game? Dumb, dumb, dumb, dumb, dumb, dumb, dumb . . . .
What about Suter? He played the point and picked up his numbers on the power play with one of the best d-men in the league. He doesn't have the game breaking ability like Doughty, Keith, Chara, Weber, etc.
I don't think the Parise contract is that bad but you knew Suter was going to be overpaid, and he was. This guy isn't Pronger.
