    Default Pavelec Resigns with Jets

    5 Years, $3.9M per.
    at the draft party a couple of years ago, and under a considerable haze, i heard Birdman yell out the following (about 4 or 5 times, i think) - "don't marry yourselves to players!" he went on to reiterate that idea more than once on the boards, and i believe it to be absolutely sage.

    Seems like too much...the guy has a career 2.99 GAA and .907 save %. Those are pretty average numbers, probably below average. If you are signing based on potential, I'd say the closest comp is Corey Crawford. He signed last year for $8M over 3 yrs.

    Pavelec could have gone to the KHL and made more money than the 3.9M/year he is making on this contract. I think this is a good deal for the 'Peg and Pavelec. Pavelec/Bobrovsky has some potential IMO.
