Pens trade Whitney to Ducks for Kunitz, Tangradi

So...bigger question...is this the deal that initiates the pre-deadline reactionary trade flood? It's a fairly big deal with overtones of 'more-to-come'...and maybe a G.M. pulls the trigger on something pre-deadline in fear of losing his target. Plus, a lot of teams need points NOW and maybe cannot afford to wait the 4 or so games till the deadline.

For what it's worth, I have a buddy who works for the Ducks and he said that the rumors floating around the Ponda are; Pronger going to Vancouver, and both Neidermeyer bros heading to NJ.

This is not a guy who is in the know by any means so don't take this to the bank. He was just telling me what the chatter was amongst all of the underlings over there.

Maybe I should start my own website.

I'm thinking Pronger goes now for a young top 6 forward and a good prospect.

Possibilities:

Pronger for Bergereon + ???

Pronger for Lupul + ???

If that happens,than it means the Ducks are not looking to make the playoffs this year and are building again for the future.

I can't imagine the Ducks trading Pronger and Neidermayer at the same time. I wish them ill, but that's almost too much to hope for. I'd say either one goes but not both.

Scott and Rob Neidermeyer are both UFA's at the end of the season. If there are no playoffs for ANA and you're Bob Murray wouldn't you want something for both of them before they leave/ retire?

And...

Pronger is the most valueable/ tradeable asset that team has. IMO, he's as good as gone.
