I for one am glad the Devils kinda effed themselves in the behind by signing him and am wondering how they can ice a full roster this season being 3 mil over the cap and needing 2 more players (before any trades) this late in the game.

I edited a couple of posts and i will warn people if I have to. Talk about IK, the implications of the ruling, cap space, but don't talk about the other posters in this thread.

I for one am glad he's finally with the Devil.
I hope Gescom doesn't mind me stealing the image he came up with.

Apparently, the changes are only valid for newly submitted "long term" contracts of 5+ years...
So, who's the first 34 year old to get a 4-year retirement contract structured: $7M, $3.5M, $550K, $550K? That's a nice $2.9M cap hit for the team for two years, and the player makes $10.5M and then retires at 36.
Same circumvention, but fewer years, so it's a legit contract? Or does the NHL go through this whole thing again for "short term" contracts?
Have you ever guessed somebody's gender wrong? There's no recovering from that. You just gotta move on, cause you ain't wriggling outta nothin'.
