I love how the cameras were all very careful to never pan out above the lower bowl portion of the arena during every angle of that shot.

I really don't care either way but why isn't the media or the nhl old schoolers up in arms about this. Let us see...a young kid up by two goals puts in a highlight reel goal and gets crushed by some media and old schoolers, etc.
Mike Smith up by two goals with 3 or 4 seconds left, instead of sitting on it, or passing it to a defense man, he fires it all the way down to score on the empty net....yet, no peep so far from the old school players. Why would this not be considered showboating also.
Just throwing it out there.

Very awesome goal.
I'm sure scoring an empty netter is in the back of every goaltender's mind if given the opportunity. For them to do it against the hated Red Wings is even better.

Even a blind squirrel catches a nut every now and then.
Phoenix Cryotes? Bah! They are almost as bad as the Anaheim Sucks.

Something happens for the 14th time in a lot of years of history I'll give him his due. Well done Mr. Smith. Hope Wiley was at the game

There are only a handful players in the NHL I truly despise and wish pain and misery would come their way. Mike Smith is one of them.
