I wouldn't read too much into this Cloutier pseudo invinte. More like Ken Holland wants to light a fire under Jimmy Howard pads. Highly unlikely Cloutier is gonna come out of camp with the number two spot or go Tonya Harding on Lidstrom for ruining his career. I think at the end of the day this will be about closure... for everybody.

If Clouts can make a comeback, it'll be a story for the ages.

Yeah, he was bad here...but I don't think he ever complained about what was asked of him. I wish him well. I think he was dealt a rough hand while he was here (injuries & loss of confidence + horrible defense). Most guys would have packed it in for good. The compete in this guy is off of the charts IMO. I give him mad props for trying to come back, but don't you recall a whole lotta whining and bitching about Best Westerns and the 'treatment' he faced while on the road while receiving a healthy paycheck? There was a game against the sharks where during a tv timeout, he skated right over to the sharks bench and got into it with Jody Shelley. His skills as a goalie might have gone downhill, but the guy has always been fearless.

that's what i thought also. the pic with the beachball behind him has him in a canucks jersey. also, when i was traveling and found out we acquired cloutier, there was a vancouver native at the computer next to me at the hotel and he overheard my husband and i talking about it so he said "cloutier?! good! he sucks!"

i guess i put those two together and assumed the same as you. i'm not sure if i'm right though.

the "beachball fable" actually started in Colorado years ago when Don Cherry made the remark about one of his goaltenders after a game (it likely started long before that too)... then it was used for Tommy Salo, David Aebischer, Jose Theodore (in three different uniforms), Andrew Raycroft, and even Roberto Luongo and Marc-Andre Fleury recently.

the images i've seen of both Salo and Aebischer predated Cloutier's playoff gaffe.
