Deano mentioned that the ducks got back everything they traded for him plus a Cup. Ducks will be good next season.

    Rant, begin.

Philadelphia is ****ing stupid for making this trade. Stupid crazy. Not only do they ADD 1M to their already over-the-cap payroll and thus handcuff themselves in future deals because other teams KNOW THIS... they also FAIL to bring in a goalie to put in their pipeline. They dealt away not only this year's first-round pick, but NEXT YEAR's first-round pick, as well. Let's focus on this year's pick and the effects that has, mmk? The Flyers had ONE, count them... ONE pick in the first 80. And they dealt it away. Now... they'll have to hope that they've done enough scouting to bring in a quality netminding prospect with their picks in the later rounds. They have two late third round picks (#81 & #87), which will be their FIRST PICKS OF THE DRAFT. Then, they don't pick until pick #142. They better hope to god they find somebody in those rounds. Otherwise, they're banking HEAVILY on Ray Emery. It's a good thing they have a 1st round pick next year to bring in a quality goalie, eh?

Being that they're hugging the cap, that means they'll have to deal with that in the next few days, weeks and maybe months as the training camp will fast approach in September and make some moves that will likely make their team worse, at least on paper, but it's something that has to be done in order to get UNDER the cap. Problem is, the players with heavy contracts ALL have NTCs. Briere, 6.5M, NMC. Richards, 5.7M, can't trade him. Gagne, 5.2M, NTC. Hartnell, 4.2M, NTC. Timonen, 6.3M, NTC. Idiocy. While Matt Carle and Randy Jones look pretty good & Braydon Coburn is a ****ing stud... they traded away their best defensive prospect and a guy who's seemingly headed towards being a top line defenseman for years to come in Luca Sbisa. Being that I support the Kings and hate the Ducks, this pisses me the **** off.

Now... the Flyers can surely bring in a goalie prospect or regain a first-round pick by trading any of their players with no movements/trade clauses but who's going to bite on Briere's insane cap hit? Or Gagne's decent hit but who's a few hits away from going on the IR? Or a heart and soul player like Hartnell who has to AGREE to be dealt? Yeah, good luck with that.

Philly has ONE real goalie under contract and that's the new and reborn Ray Emery. That's it.

And they're going to need to make some serious moves to 1) get under the cap 2) extend Pronger to an affordable contract (because that was a HUUUUUGE overpayment for just one year of service) and 3) fill some holes that their subsequent trades will create.

Here's to hoping their acquisition of Pronger is a major... FAIL!

Yes, the Ducks will be good, but they lose, besides Zdeno Chara, the biggest skilled defenseman in the entire league. Personally I will be glad that I don't have to watch Pronger cheapshot his way through the season, but I will also be hoping that Lupul doesn't fit back in with his former mates.

Maybe the Kings can offer them one of their 12 2-7 round picks in exchange for a salary dump. Hartnell (cuz everyone has a hard-on for him for some reason) for #35 and a fourth. Underpayment? Sure. Do the flyers have much of a choice? They have to dump salary, and no one is goin to take one of the monster contracts for nothing.

Here are some gems coming out of hfboards regarding the Pronger trade.

Confirmed Trade with Link: [PHI/ANA] Pronger & Dingle for Sbisa, Lupul, 2 1st rounders, conditional 3rd - HFBoards

    Crosby, meet Pronger's elbow.
    No taksies backsies!
there's no way its sbisa, lupul, and 2 firsts. I wont believe it until its official. If so, that is a robbery.
    What the F, Philly?
I love that Philly let 4 good young guys go for one good old guy.
Hah! If Burke was running the show in Anaheim, he'da made sure Philly got a 2nd rounder, at least! He HATES those things.
    Flyers got *****.
    I'll be God damned.

    We've been had.
    Can Pronger play goalie?
Paul Holmgren needs a donut to sit on after that one.
Philly won that deal for sure!
If someone posted this as a proposal, they would have been flamed to death.
Great move for the Ducks. Bob Murray has done a GREAT job with the Ducks so far.
The Penguins look forward to the increased number of power play opportunities!
The Flyers got rid of a useless floating piece of **** party machine who snorts coke and a defenseman who tops out as top 4 and 2 high 1st round picks for one of the greatest defenseman in a long time who still has a lot of hockey in him.

Flyer fans over - rate Sbisa. I'm just glad the Ducks didn't want Parent. He's a stud !
Bettman called him "Jeffrey Lupul". HAHAHA.
    Who the **** is Dingle?

    Any relation to Jim Dangle?
    Bettman is a tool.

Dingle really puts the deal in Philly's favor though.
"What's that? Cindy didn't hear you, he is busy slurping champagne from the Stanley Cup..."

    Then I'll boldface it.

    Cindy, meet Pronger.
They're still missing a goaltender. Or two.
You guys have to be smoking some good stuff if you think Emery is going to perform better than Biron

    Hell, Jeff Glass outperformed Emery
How many times is Lupul gonna be involved in a Pronger trade?

Once again Silly is hoping that a coughcough elite defenseman can make up for substandard goaltending. Do you really think that Emery is going to thrive in a town with the most 'eat-our- young' fans? That should be an epic blowout...well, at least their back-up plan to get Robert Esche back will save them. Look, this deal is not a rape...at least opposed to the deal they are going to have to make in order to get within some semblance of the cap. Bloated deals, trading away the future for 'star' players...who does Holmgren think he is???? Glen(the Michael Bay of the NHL) Sather? And it's gonna get worse before it gets better. Go cry inna cheesesteak Failure fans.

I heard Philly was on his "short" list of teams he wanted....of course that may not be the same list as his wife....

Actually - Anaheim did the right thing....hmmmmm maybe we should rent a player, win a cup, and then trade him somewhere else for some good stuff.....Good thing he acknowledged what they did...

At least Sather stays in New York. Bay casts his web of ass over the whole world.
