I am going to be honest here:

The Ducks do have the physicality in their game. That is a plus for them. However, I agree that the defense of the Wings is far greater than that of the Ducks.

    Ducks-Niedermeyer Wings-Lidstrom adv-WINGS
    Ducks- Pronger Wings-Rafalski adv-Push
    Ducks-Beauchemin Wings-Kronwall adv-Wings
    Ducks-Hedican Wings-Stuart adv-Wings

Plus, one cannot forget the beast that is Jonathan Ericsson (6'5 220) who is one of the upcoming cores of their defense along with Jakub Kindl. Lastly, we look at goaltending. Hiller is on a hot streak, but so is Hossa, Cleary, and Zetterberg is always a solid force. Yes the Ducks have hide the Salami, and Getzlaf, but the front of the net presence is weak whereas the Wings have Holmstrom who is, I would say, the best in the league in front of the crease.

Lastly, the Wings have better speed and conditioning and it showed through the Columbus series when the Jackets tried to skate fast, the Wings kept right on up and let the Jackets make the mistakes.

Yes the Ducks have Bobby Ryan, and he is a solid player, but they can match him up with Draper or Maltby and a solid D line and he can be shut down.

i really want the wings to win this. but i can't help but remember what happened a couple of years ago. wings totally had the better of the play, but the ducks won anyhow.

i just hope the ducks keep taking a million stupid penalties. and that hiller isn't as good as the sharks made him look.

Bret Hedican is not the Ducks 4th defensman. Ryan Whitney is. Hedican has been out of the lineup since Feb. 26th.

The only thing the Wings have over the Ducks is depth.

and a goaltender who has a little magic. Hiller is good and is having a great run, but what happens to him if Detroit comes in and torches him?

and Carlyle would be a FOOL to make a switch.

Osgood is Osgood... he's never had to be Osgreat and he's got three cups and backstopped the Wings for 2 of the 4 they've won in the last 11 years.

and he hasn't been the Wings goaltender in either of the last two times Detroit has faced and lost to Anaheim.

If the Ducks continue take the same number of penalties they did against the Sharks, the Wings will light them up. Wings in 6.

If Hiller is still standing on his head and Osgood is underperforming, then this could be another annoying summer of watching Anaheim in the Cup finals again.
