I am going to be honest here:
The Ducks do have the physicality in their game. That is a plus for them. However, I agree that the defense of the Wings is far greater than that of the Ducks.
Ducks-Niedermeyer Wings-Lidstrom adv-WINGS
Ducks- Pronger Wings-Rafalski adv-Push
Ducks-Beauchemin Wings-Kronwall adv-Wings
Ducks-Hedican Wings-Stuart adv-Wings
Plus, one cannot forget the beast that is Jonathan Ericsson (6'5 220) who is one of the upcoming cores of their defense along with Jakub Kindl. Lastly, we look at goaltending. Hiller is on a hot streak, but so is Hossa, Cleary, and Zetterberg is always a solid force. Yes the Ducks have hide the Salami, and Getzlaf, but the front of the net presence is weak whereas the Wings have Holmstrom who is, I would say, the best in the league in front of the crease.
Lastly, the Wings have better speed and conditioning and it showed through the Columbus series when the Jackets tried to skate fast, the Wings kept right on up and let the Jackets make the mistakes.
Yes the Ducks have Bobby Ryan, and he is a solid player, but they can match him up with Draper or Maltby and a solid D line and he can be shut down.
